Scholarships and Donations

As a result of the continued dedication and hard work of the members of BCKC, the club is in the position to offer financial assistance to individuals and institutions in the form of scholarships and donations.  The following contains the information necessary to apply for those funds.

Applications and all supporting documents for scholarships and donations must be submitted to the BCKC Corresponding Secretary at the address listed on the BCKC.org website.  What constitutes an approved program is solely at the discretion of the officers and Board of BCKC.  Scholarships are granted annually by the officers and Board of BCKC and may be discontinued at any time.  Donations are granted periodically and may be discontinued at any time.  The amount of any scholarship or award may fluctuate and must take in to consideration the financial status of the club.  Board approval of any request must be accompanied by an affirmative vote of the majority of the Board at a regular Board meeting.

Unique learning opportunities for Juniors

BCKC will consider applications from Junior club (BCKC) or 4-H members who seek club support to attend unique dog-related events.  Such events would include seminars/workshops/clinics/special instruction/training/classes that are viewed by the Board as a unique learning opportunity for the applicant.  Applicants should submit to the Corresponding Secretary a detailed description of the event in which they wish to participate and a brief essay describing the purpose, goal, and perceived benefit from the event.  Applications must be received by the Board prior to the Board meeting which precedes the event.  Awards will be reviewed and granted on a case by case basis.

Donations

BCKC may periodically present donations to worthy individuals and institutions and will assess donations on a case by case basis.   Potential recipients must present their request to the Club either directly or through a Club Member.  Institutions should be able to demonstrate non-profit or not-for-profit tax status and present a stated objective for any award solicited from BCKC.  Individuals must also identify a stated purpose for any awards.  If a Club Member chooses to champion an individual or cause, demonstration of worthiness becomes the responsibility of the Club Member.  Requests for donations must be presented to and approved by the General Membership before submission to the Board where a majority vote at a regular meeting is required for approval.
